Marvel Cinematic Universe · Loki: Season Two

Glorious Purpose — S02E06

TV · 2023 · 58 minutes · Phase Five

With the Temporal Loom moments from destroying every branched timeline, Loki uses his growing command of time-slipping to jump back again and again, seeking help from Ouroboros, Mobius, and the TVA to find a fix that holds. Every attempt fails until Loki accepts that the Loom cannot be saved and that the branches must be allowed to survive on their own. Walking into the heart of the TVA's temporal power source, he sheds his old ambitions for the throne and instead binds himself to the fabric of time itself, growing a vast tree of timelines with himself seated at its center to hold them all in place. The TVA is left standing to protect a multiverse it can no longer prune, now tasked with tracking variants of He Who Remains rather than pruning branches on his behalf. Mobius and Sylvie say their goodbyes to the Loki they knew, and the season closes on him alone at the End of Time, quietly sustaining every timeline so life in the branches can go on.
