Chafa — S01E01
TV · 2024 · 49 minutes · Phase Five
A prologue depicts the Choctaw origin story of Chafa emerging from the earth at Nanih Waiya, before the episode shifts to 2007, when young Maya Lopez survives a car accident that kills her mother and costs Maya her leg. Maya and her father William move to New York, where William becomes entangled in Wilson Fisk's criminal organization. Years later, as an adult, Maya learns Fisk was behind her father's murder (carried out by Ronin during his killing spree) and retaliates by shooting Fisk. Five months later, having gone into hiding, Maya returns to her hometown in Oklahoma, quietly reconnecting with her extended family while trying to keep her presence there a secret. The episode closes on the reveal that Fisk survived Maya's shooting and is alive, recovering in a hospital bed.
