Alice Wu-Gulliver awakens as a spirit and accepts being claimed by Death, known as Rio Vidal, while Agatha strikes a bargain with Vidal to deliver Billy in exchange for never facing her again. The remaining Road walkers discover the Witches' Road loops back on itself, and a new trial in a morgue-like basement forces them to cultivate plants before their light fades; Jennifer Kale completes an unbinding ritual to reclaim her magic and vanishes, while Agatha helps Billy find and transfer his twin Tommy's soul into a drowning boy's body before Billy too disappears. Agatha alone finishes the trial, but back in her Westview backyard Vidal confronts her for failing to hand over Billy. Billy returns to lend Agatha his power against Death, but when he telepathically shows her he understands how her son Nicholas died, Agatha changes course, kisses Vidal, and dies as flowers bloom around her body. Billy goes home realizing he unknowingly conjured the entire Witches' Road himself, then hears Agatha's laugh behind him.
