Peter Parker, a freshman bitten by a spider during a portal accident involving Doctor Strange and an alien symbiote, secretly becomes Spider-Man and is recruited by Norman Osborn into an Oscorp internship. Peter keeps his double life from friends and family as Otto Octavius supplies high-tech gear to criminals, his classmate Lonnie Lincoln is pulled into a street gang, and Norman steers Peter toward a more aggressive style of heroism. Peter is beaten badly by the Scorpion, regroups, and in the end defeats him with Lonnie's help while holding back from killing him. The finale loops back to the origin, as Oscorp's secret space gateway lets the symbiote back through, Strange's escape sends a spider carrying Peter's blood back to bite his younger self, and a piece of the alien remains in Norman's possession.
