Luke Cage

Season 2

TV · 2018

Luke Cage is now a celebrated protector of Harlem, but his fame draws John "Bushmaster" McIver, a Jamaican gangster whose nightshade-derived compound gives him strength to rival Luke's and who is out to destroy Mariah Dillard over a family grudge. Mariah and Shades fight to hold onto Harlem's Paradise and their criminal operation, while Luke is torn between the neighbourhood, his estranged father, and Misty Knight's worries about the company he keeps. Mariah is finally arrested, and her estranged daughter Tilda, turned against her by Bushmaster, poisons her during a prison visit with a slow-acting kiss, so that Mariah dies in front of Luke. Shades, who had agreed to testify against Mariah, is arrested once her death leaves the deal worthless, while Bushmaster, worn down by the nightshade, retreats to Jamaica with his revenge unfinished. Mariah's will leaves Harlem's Paradise to Luke rather than Tilda, and Luke takes over the club and sets himself up as Harlem's new power, which troubles Misty as she adjusts to her new prosthetic arm. Tilda, cut out of her inheritance, takes up the Nightshade name and vows to carry on the Stokes way.
