Jessica Jones

Season 1

TV · 2015

Jessica Jones, a super-strong woman who has given up heroics, runs a small private-investigation business in Hell's Kitchen while haunted by the months she spent under the control of Kilgrave, a man whose voice compels obedience. A missing-student case reveals that Kilgrave, whom she believed dead, is alive and has forced the student, Hope Shlottman, to kill her own parents. With help from her friend Trish Walker, her neighbour Malcolm, lawyer Jeri Hogarth and bar owner Luke Cage, Jessica hunts him, while he keeps turning the people around her into weapons, and her relationship with Luke falls apart when he learns Kilgrave once made her kill his wife Reva. Jessica briefly captures Kilgrave but he escapes, and Hope, in custody, takes her own life so that Jessica will no longer hold back for her sake; Kilgrave then turns Luke against Jessica, forcing her to shoot him. In a final confrontation at the docks, Kilgrave tries to make Jessica obey him again, but she resists his control and snaps his neck. Arrested for the killing and released through Jeri's help, Jessica reopens Alias Investigations with Malcolm at her side.
