Flashbacks trace both Peggy's and Whitney Frost's pasts in parallel: a young Agnes Cully is turned away from university despite her scientific gifts and instead builds a Hollywood career as Whitney Frost, while Peggy's 1940 recruitment into the SOE after codebreaking at Bletchley Park is revealed. In the 1947 present, Peggy and Jarvis kidnap Council of Nine enforcer Rufus Hunt and successfully extract the information they need, then deliberately release him with a hidden tracking device as part of a plan to blackmail Calvin Chadwick. Whitney, with her Zero Matter-fuelled powers growing, subsequently catches up with Hunt and absorbs him, confirming just how dangerous she has become.
