Ex-con Scott Lang is recruited by scientist Hank Pym to steal the Yellowjacket suit before Pym's former protege Darren Cross can weaponize the shrinking technology and sell it to Hydra. Training under Pym and his daughter Hope van Dyne to master the Ant-Man suit and control an army of ants, Lang breaks into Cross's lab and, after a shrinking duel with Cross in his own Yellowjacket suit, destroys the technology and stops the sale. A mid-credits scene shows Pym revealing a Wasp suit prototype to Hope.
