Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Season 5

TV · 2017 · Phase Three

Coulson's team is pulled through a monolith into 2091, where Earth lies in ruins and the last humans survive aboard the Lighthouse under the Kree ruler Kasius, while Fitz, left behind in the present, has himself frozen in stasis so he can reach the future and rejoin them. Learning that Earth's destruction is somehow tied to Daisy, the team finds a way back to the present to stop it. There they face General Hale, secretly building an army of gifted people for an alien confederacy, and her daughter Ruby; Talbot kills Hale, Yo-Yo kills Ruby, and Talbot, driven by fear of the invasion Thanos is bringing, absorbs gravitonium and becomes Graviton. Coulson, dying from the after-effects of his resurrection and his bond with the Ghost Rider, refuses the Centipede serum that could save him and hides it in Daisy's gauntlets, and Daisy uses it to blast Graviton into space, averting the 2091 future. Fitz is killed by falling debris in the battle, and Coulson leaves S.H.I.E.L.D. to spend his final days with May in Tahiti. Simmons resolves to find the present-day Fitz, still frozen in stasis aboard Enoch's ship.
