Eddie Brock and Venom are on the run in their home reality after briefly and accidentally slipping into the MCU's main universe and back again. Hunted both by Xenophages — monstrous symbiote-hunters sent by the imprisoned symbiote god Knull to retrieve the "Codex" Eddie and Venom unknowingly carry — and by a covert military task force led by General Rex Strickland, the pair go on the run across the American Southwest toward Area 51. Cornered at Strickland's facility and with no other way to keep the Codex from Knull, Venom sacrifices himself, fusing with and destroying the Xenophages; Strickland, fatally wounded in the final battle, detonates a grenade to finish the job, dying alongside Venom in the explosion. Eddie is cleared of the crimes he was framed for and honors Venom's memory alone. A mid-credits scene shows Knull, still imprisoned on Klyntar, delivering a menacing monologue that the universe is no longer safe, while a post-credits stinger hints a symbiote sample may yet have survived.
