Madame Web
Film · 2024 · 116 minutes
In 1973, researcher Constance Webb is shot and left for dead in the Amazon by her betraying guide Ezekiel Sims after discovering a rare healing spider, but a local tribe saves her unborn daughter with a ritual before Constance dies giving birth. Thirty years later in New York, paramedic Cassandra "Cassie" Webb nearly drowns in a rescue and wakes with the power to see glimpses of the future. Her visions repeatedly show three teenagers — Julia Cornwall, Mattie Franklin, and Anya Corazon — being killed by a mysterious spider-powered assailant, who turns out to be Ezekiel, now empowered by the same spider venom and convinced the girls will one day kill him. Cassie tracks down and protects the three girls as Ezekiel hunts them across the city, culminating in a confrontation at an abandoned fireworks warehouse where Ezekiel is killed. Cassie survives but is left blind and paralyzed, her clairvoyant powers intact, setting her on the path to becoming the guide later known as Madame Web. The film closes with Mary Parker giving birth to a son, implied to be Peter Parker, with her brother-in-law Ben at her side, gesturing toward the wider Spider-Man mythology without any direct crossover.
