What If... What If? — S03E08

The Watcher stands trial before the ruling Eminence and its enforcers, the Incarnate and the Executioner, accused of repeatedly breaking his oath of non-interference by saving Riri Williams, Jun-Fan, Nick Fury, Reed Richards, and Madisynn — and, worst of all, befriending Captain Carter. As the tribunal moves to erase Uatu and Carter from existence, Byrdie, Storm, and Kahhori crash in to rescue them; the Eminence destroys Infinity Ultron in the process, cutting the power to their ship. With his own life fading, Uatu grants Carter, Storm, Kahhori, and Byrdie the same Watcher oath and powers he once took, arming them for a last stand as the three tribunal Watchers merge into a single entity bent on erasing all of existence. Carter, newly a Watcher herself, sacrifices her life in the ensuing battle, using her final act to banish the merged Eminence entity into Strange Supreme's universe, where it no longer holds power. The surviving heroes mourn Carter in the Fifth Dimension as Uatu closes the season reflecting on the nature of "what if?"
