A flashback-driven origin sequence shows young Maya Lopez losing her father and learning to fight by mimicking others' movements, a skill sharpened by her deafness. In the present, Clint and Kate flee the Tracksuit Mafia by train before getting Clint's damaged hearing aid repaired in Chinatown, surfacing his years of hearing loss from his Avengers career. The pair then sneak into Eleanor Bishop's penthouse to dig into her fiance Jack Duquesne, only for Duquesne to catch Clint and hold him at swordpoint with a blade matching the Ronin's.
