Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Film · 2014 · 142 minutes · The Amazing Spider-Man Duology

Peter Parker balances life as Spider-Man with his relationship with Gwen Stacy, even as he is haunted by a promise he made to her late father to keep her out of danger. Oscorp engineer Max Dillon suffers an accident that transforms him into the electricity-wielding Electro, who becomes fixated on Spider-Man after a chance encounter. Peter's estranged childhood friend Harry Osborn inherits control of Oscorp along with a fatal genetic disease, and comes to believe Spider-Man's blood is the only cure; when Peter refuses to help for fear of the risk, Harry allies with Oscorp's Donald Menken and transforms himself into the Green Goblin using modified spider venom. In the climax, Spider-Man and Gwen work together to stop Electro, but the Green Goblin abducts Gwen, and she falls to her death during the ensuing confrontation in a clock tower. Devastated, Peter withdraws from being Spider-Man for months before recommitting to the role.
