On a road trip, lawyer Jennifer Walters and her cousin Bruce Banner are intercepted by a Sakaaran spacecraft and crash their car; helping Bruce afterward, Jen's wound is contaminated by his blood and she transforms into a Hulk for the first time. Bruce takes her to his private lab in Mexico to train her in controlling the transformation, but despite mastering it far faster than he ever did, Jen refuses to become a superhero and returns to her normal life and law career. Months later, the villain Titania attacks her courtroom, forcing Jen to become She-Hulk in public to save the bailiffs, and footage of the fight leaks online.
