Steven finds a storage locker containing a golden scarab and, via his reflection, learns he shares a body with another identity, Marc Spector. He and Layla are captured by Harrow's associates, who pose as police; Harrow reveals he was once Khonshu's avatar and wants the scarab to locate Ammit's tomb. Layla frees Steven, but an invisible jackal-like creature pursues them, forcing Marc to take control and fight it off, though Harrow manages to seize the scarab in the struggle.
