Childhood friends Reed Richards and Ben Grimm build a teleportation device that draws the attention of Dr. Franklin Storm at the Baxter Foundation, where Reed joins a research team alongside Storm's children Sue and Johnny, plus troubled prodigy Victor Von Doom. After a late-night, unauthorized test sends the team through their transdimensional portal to the alien "Planet Zero," an accident during their escape exposes them to the dimension's energy, leaving Victor stranded behind. A year later, Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben find themselves transformed with extraordinary abilities — elasticity, invisibility and force fields, fire control and flight, and a super-strong rocky exterior — now working for a government program that seeks to weaponize their powers. When a rescue mission back to Planet Zero recovers a horribly mutated and now malevolent Victor, he returns to Earth bent on destroying the planet to remake it in his own image. The four must set aside their fractured relationships and master their new abilities together to stop him, emerging as the "Fantastic Four."
